I’m the kind of guy who will do anything for a friend, so when my best mate, Max, gets sick I naturally want to help. He needs money for experimental treatment overseas and he needs it fast. So I round up the guys with an idea to raise the cash for him.

I am a big fan of both Ashley Suzanne and Missy Johnson and when I saw they were teaming up , I knew I had to get my greedy eyes on what was sure to be something wonderful. There are a lot of words that come to mind when I think back on what I read in Slow Grind...Sexy. Forbidden. Original. Heartbreaking. Family. Australian Accents (HOT). Hope. Funny. Stupid Cancer. Love...The list is truly endless.
I adored Aubrey. She is strong willed and has a heart of gold that pines for her brother's best friend, Drew. What the most unfortunate of circumstances sends her back home she comes face-to-face with him and has to find a way to put her feelings aside and focus on her brother, Max. My heart broke with and for the whole gang but I loved how they banded together to do what they could for one of their own. Especially Aubrey. She took her passion, dancing, and turned it into purpose.
The idea that she came up with was brilliant and Drew's alpha meter going off. It quickly morphed into something bigger than the two of them and their sexual tension. It became the wing that their prayer was on. Everyone wanted to get this right- failure was not an option. And when the big day came...I was right there living it with them. I could feel the music, the nerves, the embarrassment, the exuberance and the hope. And when Aubrey got pulled into it- I had a grin so big that my cheeks hurt.
You got me ladies. I'm all in for this ride. I was hooked from page one of Slow Grind and flew through it in just a few hours. But that ending...WHAT??? I was ready for something more concrete than that ! I found myself trying to flip for pages that weren't there. I absolutely can not wait to see more from this fun and flawed cast of characters.
Max's fighting Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, again! He fought and beat it 10 years ago when he was 17, this time it's beating him. Because Max is on his 3rd and final chemotherapy regimen. He told his mum it was ok to call and let his little sister Aubrey know what was going on, and to bring her home to Australia from the United States to be with him. She hasn't been home in 10yrs, since she was 12 yrs old..
Drew(Andrew) is Max's best mate, they supported each other when their respected parents were going through their divorces, and have always been there for each other growing up. *We’re his best mates. We have to try something.(*direct book quote). He's completely SHOCKED when Aubrey gets there, *“Little Aubrey is all grown up,”(*direct book quote). Max tells him Aubrey is OFF LIMITS!
When Aubrey left Australia with her father for the United States after her parents divorce, she dropped all contact with everyone except her brother Max. She had been in love with Andrew when she was 12. He didn't return her attention, only treated/seen her as a "Max's little sister", she was 6yrs younger than him. This one sided love affair was detrimental to her, in addition to the relationship between her & her mother, she just couldn't find it in her heart for anything more than a casual sexual relationship with anyone. When she sees Max, it's like she's right back to when she was 12 all over again.
What plan does the group find to try and help Max? What happens between Aubrey and Drew? Are they able to fight their feelings or do they finally get together? What are Max's feelings on everything going on around him? Lots of questions, you'll have to read SLOW GRIND to find out the answers. This is my 1st Missy Johnson and Ashley Suzanne book, but it won't be my last. I canNOT wait to read what comes next! This book uses British spellings and contains language and sexual situations not recommended to be read by those under 18.

At 12 years old, Aubrey had a massive crush on Andrew who was 18 and her brother, Max’s best friend. After her parents divorced, Aubrey left Australia for America with her dad, and Max stayed behind with their mum.
Ten years later, Aubrey is back in Oz as Max is seriously ill and Andrew (now known as Drew) finds that she’s no longer the little tomboy he remembers. She’s all grown up, confident and very sexy! The attraction between them is instant.
To pay for an expensive trial drug treatment, Aubrey and Drew come up with a scheme to raise the money – Drew and his friends will dance and strip in order to raise it, and Aubrey will help to choreograph their routines.
Sexual tension and chemistry run high between them, in spite of Max’s warnings for Drew to stay away from his little sister. Drew, who doesn’t believe in marriage, realises that Aubrey might be it for him, but people from their recent past throw a couple of spanners in the works for them. Drew is a good guy, and a caring and solid friend. He tries to do the right thing but one kiss changes everything between them.
This book was a quick read and ends on something of a cliff-hanger, however, the story was fun, sexy, and enjoyable to read, and I’m keen to read the next instalment.
